Built-In NACS Port Ends CCS Dependency
General Motors announced on May 29, 2026, that the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox EV will feature a factory-integrated NACS charge port, replacing the CCS connector used on current models. The change gives Equinox EV drivers direct access to Tesla Supercharger stations without needing an adapter — a fix for one of the most frequent complaints from current owners.
The Blazer EV will receive the same NACS port update for the 2027 model year. Combined with GM's growing Ultium DC fast-charging network partnerships, the move significantly expands charging options for Chevrolet EV owners across North America.
Production Timeline Confirmed
GM Authority reported that regular production of the 2027 Chevy Equinox EV is scheduled to begin August 10, 2026. The updated crossover will be built alongside current models at GM's assembly plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
The 2027 model year also brings an optional Active Safety Package 3, available on LT2 and RS trims, adding hands-free driver assistance technology to the Equinox EV lineup. The package costs $3,355 extra on current models and will carry over to the 2027 refresh.
Additional Updates and Pricing
The 2026 Equinox EV LT starts around $35,000 before federal tax credits, making it one of the more affordable electric crossovers on the market. The 2027 NACS-equipped models are expected to hold similar pricing, with order books likely opening in late summer 2026.
GM has not confirmed specific range or power figures for the 2027 Equinox EV, but the current model delivers up to 319 miles of estimated range on a full charge. Buyers can expect similar or improved figures with the updated production run.
