Civic Gets Mid-Cycle Refresh
Honda announced a minor model change for the 11th-generation Civic on June 4, 2026, launching the updated lineup in Japan on June 5. The refresh adds a new sporty hybrid grade called e:HEV RS and introduces the Honda S+ Shift control technology to the Civic lineup for the first time. All grades gain rear USB ports for rear passengers, and the EX grade adds a steering heater. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with CVT and the 6-speed manual RS option continue unchanged.
New e:HEV RS Adds S+ Shift Technology
The e:HEV RS is the second Honda model to receive S+ Shift after the Prelude. The technology uses software to simulate stepped gear shifts in the hybrid e-CVT, creating engine sound modulation and torque pulses that mimic a traditional multi-speed transmission. Honda calibrated the S+ Shift tuning specifically for the Civic to deliver a more engaging driving feel without sacrificing hybrid efficiency. The RS grade also gets exclusive stiffer suspension tuning, quicker steering response, and revised rubber and bushing tuning for improved cornering body control.
Pricing and Availability
Exterior upgrades include 18-inch matte black alloy wheels, gloss black headlight rings, a gloss black lower grille garnish, and RS badging. Inside, the RS features a D-shaped steering wheel with red stitching, metal paddle shifters, red-stitched sport seats, and red pinstripe trim on the air vents and door panels. Pricing starts at ¥4,659,600 (approximately $32,500 USD) for the e:HEV RS. Standard e:HEV LX and EX grades remain available alongside the 1.5T EX and 6MT RS trims, with prices ranging from ¥3,946,800 to ¥4,659,600.
