Best Floor Mats for the Chevy Traverse and Blazer: Midsize and Three-Row SUV Coverage for 2026

Best Floor Mats for the Chevy Traverse and Blazer: Midsize and Three-Row SUV Coverage for 2026

Chevrolet uses the Blazer name for two different SUVs. The gasoline Blazer is a five-seat midsize crossover, while the Blazer EV is built on a separate electric platform. Because their floors are shaped differently, floor mats made for one model will not fit the other correctly ([6])([7]).

The Traverse also requires some attention. Chevrolet redesigned it for the 2024 model year, so older and newer versions have different interiors. Seating can also vary depending on the trim ([5]).

This guide explains how floor mat fitment works for the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV and Traverse, as well as the GMC Acadia. It also looks at all-weather materials, available mat sets and the areas of the interior that floor mats do not cover.

Why the Chevy Blazer and Blazer EV Need Different Floor Mats

The gasoline Blazer and the Blazer EV look similar in size, but their interiors are built differently. The gasoline Blazer is 191.8 inches long, seats five and offers up to 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space ([6]). The Blazer EV is slightly longer at 192.62 inches, also seats five, and provides 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats or 59.1 cubic feet with them folded ([7])([8]).

The Blazer EV may also look close in size to the gasoline Blazer, but underneath it is a very different vehicle. The battery sits below the cabin floor, and the EV has a 121.8-inch wheelbase ([8]). That changes the shape of the footwells and the floor itself.

So if you drive a Blazer EV, you need a mat set made specifically for that version. Mats for the gasoline Blazer will not line up properly.

Chevy Blazer EV Floor Mats: One Set for Three Models

Our Thorex set for the Blazer EV also fits the Honda Prologue and Cadillac Lyriq from 2024 through 2026 ([3]). The package includes floor mats, a trunk mat and seat back mats.

These three EVs are built on the same GM electric platform, which is why one molded set can work across all three.

The gasoline Blazer is a different case. Our current Chevrolet collection includes a set for the Blazer EV, but not for the gasoline Blazer, so it is important to check the exact model before ordering ([4]).

The Traverse is also divided by generation. We offer separate fitments for 2018 through 2023 models and for 2024 through 2026 models ([4]).

Chevy Traverse All-Weather Floor Mats: Material and Fitment

Our Thorex liners are made from TPE, or thermoplastic elastomer, a flexible material that stays pliable in cold weather. It is odor-free, contains no PVC or phthalates, and is designed to handle temperatures from -4°F to 167°F ([1]).

The raised edges help contain water, mud and snow before they reach the carpet. Each liner is molded around the footwells and surrounding edges for a closer fit ([1]).

For seven-seat Traverse models, the Thorex set includes ([2]):

  • floor mats
  • a trunk mat
  • a seat back protector

The seating layout matters here. The Traverse LT can be configured with a second-row bench and seat up to eight passengers, while the Z71, RS and High Country use second-row captain's chairs and seat seven ([5]). Our set is designed for the seven-seat layout, so check your configuration before ordering.

The trunk mat also adds useful protection behind the third row, where the Traverse offers 22.9 cubic feet of cargo space ([5]).

GMC Acadia Floor Mats: What Changed for 2024

The GMC Acadia was completely redesigned for 2024. The new model is 10.6 inches longer and 3.2 inches taller than the previous generation, with nearly 80% more cargo space behind the third row and over 36% more behind the second ([9]).

The redesign also changed the shape of the footwells and cargo area. Floor mats made for the previous generation are therefore not designed for the 2024 and newer Acadia.

The seating layout is another detail to check. The Acadia can have seven or eight seats depending on the configuration ([9]). Our set is designed for seven-seat models ([2]), which have second-row captain's chairs rather than a bench.

Here is how the models covered in this guide compare:

Vehicle Seats Cargo behind last row Maximum cargo Our listed fitment
Chevrolet Traverse 7 or 8, depending on trim [5] 22.9 cu ft [5] 98 cu ft [5] 2024-2027, 7-seat [2]
GMC Acadia / Acadia Denali 7 or 8, depending on trim [9] 23.0 cu ft 97.5 cu ft 2024-2027, 7-seat [2]
Chevrolet Blazer (gasoline) 5[6] 30.5 cu ft 64.2 cu ft [6] Not currently listed [4]
Chevrolet Blazer EV 5[7] 25.5 cu ft [7] 59.1 cu ft [7][8] 2024-2026 [3]

Floor Mat Fitment in Three-Row SUVs

Three-row SUVs need a little more attention when choosing floor mats. The rear footwells are smaller and often have an irregular shape, especially around the seats and wheel wells.

On the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, the second-row seats move forward to give access to the third row. A mat that is too thick or does not fit well can interfere with this movement.

The cargo area also changes when the third row is folded. Part of the load floor is made up of the seat backs, so a standard trunk mat may not cover the entire surface.

Two-row models like the Blazer and Blazer EV have a simpler floor layout and are generally easier to cover.

Custom-Fit vs Universal Floor Mats

Custom-fit floor mats are molded to match the exact shape of a vehicle's floor. This is why the same set may fit several models built on the same platform, while a similar-looking SUV may require a completely different design.

Universal mats are a simpler and usually cheaper option. They can work well if the vehicle is used in relatively clean conditions or if full coverage is not a priority ([1]).

A custom-fit set is usually more useful when the vehicle is regularly exposed to:

  • heavy rain or snow
  • road salt
  • mud and dirt
  • pets
  • work equipment or job-site debris

In these situations, the raised edges and vehicle-specific shape help keep water and dirt inside the mat instead of letting them spread onto the carpet ([1]).

What Floor Mats Do and Do Not Cover

Floor mats and liners protect specific parts of the interior, but they do not cover every surface. Each product is designed for a different area of the vehicle.

Product type What it covers What it does not cover
Floor liners Front and second-row footwells and the edges around them Seat bases, door panels and cargo area
Third-row mats Third-row footwells Cargo area behind the third row
Trunk or cargo liner Cargo floor behind the last upright row Areas exposed when the seats are folded
Seat back protector Rear side of the folded seat backs Front side of the seats, headrests and seat bases

One area that often causes confusion is the seat base. Floor liners are shaped to cover the footwell, so they stop before the seat structure ([1]). The same applies to the door sills. The liner may rise slightly along the edge of the floor, but it does not cover the sill itself.

Floor Mat Safety: Why Proper Fit Matters?

A loose or poorly fitted floor mat can become a safety risk if it moves toward the pedals. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, pedal entrapment can occur when a mat is not secured, when one mat is placed on top of another or when the mat is not designed for that specific vehicle ([10]).

The issue has led to large recalls in the past. In 2009, 3.8 million vehicles were recalled because of concerns about floor mat pedal entrapment, followed by another 1.1 million vehicles in January 2010 ([10]).

To reduce the risk:

  • remove the original mat before installing a new one
  • secure the driver-side mat using the vehicle's retention hooks or posts
  • make sure the mat lies flat and does not touch the accelerator pedal
  • check the mat regularly, especially after heavy rain, snow or road salt

A quick check helps make sure the mat has not shifted and is still properly secured.

What to Check Before Buying Floor Mats

Before choosing a set, check a few details to make sure it fits your vehicle correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Chevy Blazer EV floor mats fit the gasoline Chevy Blazer?

No. The Blazer EV and gasoline Blazer have different floor shapes, so they need different mat sets. Our Blazer EV set is also designed for the Honda Prologue and Cadillac Lyriq ([3])([4]).

What does "all-weather" mean for Chevy Traverse floor mats?

All-weather liners are made from a non-porous material and have raised edges that help contain water, mud and snow. Our Thorex TPE is designed to work in temperatures from -4°F to 167°F and stays flexible in cold conditions ([1]).

Will 2023 Traverse floor mats fit a 2024 Traverse?

No. Chevrolet redesigned the Traverse for 2024, which changed the interior floor layout. We offer separate fitments for 2018-2023 and 2024-2027 models ([4]).

Does the seat count matter when buying GMC Acadia floor mats?

Yes. The 2024 and newer Acadia can have seven or eight seats, depending on the configuration ([9]). Our set is designed for seven-seat models with second-row captain's chairs ([2]).

Do floor mats cover the base of the seats?

No. Floor liners are made to cover the footwells, so the seat bases remain exposed ([1]).

Can I place new floor mats on top of the factory mats?

No. The original mat should be removed before installing a new one. Stacked mats can move toward the pedals, and the U.S. Department of Transportation identifies this as a possible cause of pedal entrapment ([10]).
