Best Floor Mats for the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and GMC Canyon AT4: Off-Road Trim Protection for 2026

Best Floor Mats for the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and GMC Canyon AT4

After a fall weekend on muddy trails, your Chevy Colorado ZR2 or GMC Canyon AT4 will probably need a good cleaning. The outside is easy enough to wash, but dirt, wet leaves and sand brought in on your boots can be harder to remove from the cabin carpet.

A good set of floor mats for cars helps keep that mess contained and makes cleanup easier. Before buying, though, it's worth checking which mats fit your truck's model year and cab style. We'll look at the options available for the Colorado ZR2 and Canyon AT4, along with the protection you can expect from a custom-fit set.

Do the Colorado ZR2 and Canyon AT4 Need Different Floor Mats?

The Chevy Colorado ZR2 comes with a 3-inch factory lift, 33-inch mud-terrain tires and Multimatic DSSV dampers ([4]). Those upgrades make a difference on the trail, but the floor inside the cab is the same as in other Colorado Crew Cab trims.

Chevrolet switched to a four-door Crew Cab-only lineup in 2023 ([5]). For the 2023 to 2026 Colorado and GMC Canyon, we've designed one floor mat set that covers both trucks, including the ZR2, Trail Boss and AT4 ([1]). You won't find separate mats for each off-road trim in our catalog.

How Do the Off-Road Trims Differ?

The Chevy Colorado ZR2 and GMC Canyon AT4 are built to handle rougher terrain than their standard counterparts. They sit higher off the ground, and some versions come with larger tires and upgraded suspension systems. That means more opportunities to drive through mud, gravel, and water, all of which can end up inside the cab.

Here's how the main off-road trims compare.

Vehicle Factory lift Ground clearance Off-road equipment
Colorado Z71 (2023+) Not listed 8.9 in Not listed [5]
Colorado Trail Boss (2023+) 2 in 9.5 in Not listed [5]
Colorado ZR2 (2023+) 3 in 10.7 in 33-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers [4][5]
Colorado ZR2 Bison (2026) Not listed 12.2 in 35-inch mud-terrain tires, front and rear jounce control dampers [4]
Canyon AT4 (2026) 2 in 9.6 in All-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels [6]
Canyon AT4X (2026) 3 in 10.7 in Multimatic DSSV dampers [6]

The Colorado ZR2 has a 3-inch factory lift and 10.7 inches of ground clearance, while the Canyon AT4 sits a little lower at 9.6 inches ([4])([5])([6]). Drivers looking for more off-road capability can move up to the ZR2 Bison or Canyon AT4X, which come with additional trail-focused equipment ([4])([6]).

Chevy Colorado Floor Mats: Getting the Right Fit

The model year is what matters here. A 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 falls under our 2023 to 2026 Colorado/Canyon Crew Cab listing, along with the other Crew Cab trims. You'll get liners for the front and rear footwells. We also sell a separate mat for the 5.1-foot truck bed ([1]).

We make these liners using 3D scans of the Colorado's floor. This lets us follow the curves and corners of the footwells, with raised edges and grooves where mud and water can collect instead of spreading across the carpet ([1]).

A 2021 Colorado, for example, needs a different set. Chevrolet redesigned the truck for 2023, changing the cabin dimensions in the process. Our 2015 to 2022 Crew Cab liners are made for those earlier models and won't interchange with the newer ones ([2])([5]).

Model years Our floor mat set Coverage
2015 to 2022 Colorado / Canyon Crew Cab Front and rear footwells, including listed ZR2 and Canyon AT4 models [2]
2023 to 2026 Colorado / Canyon Crew Cab Front and rear footwells, with a separate bed mat option [1]

Have an older Colorado with an Extended Cab? Our 2015 - 2022 product page is labeled for Crew Cab trucks, although some Extended Cab models also appear in the compatibility chart ([2]).Before ordering your Chevy floor mats, send us your vehicle’s model year and cab details so we can help confirm the correct fit.

Floor Mats for the GMC Canyon AT4 and AT4X

The GMC Canyon AT4 and AT4X don't need a separate set of floor mats. If you own a 2023 to 2026 Crew Cab, you'll find the right liners in our Colorado/Canyon collection. We use the same fit for both trucks, regardless of their off-road trim ([1])([2]).

Our liners follow the shape of the Canyon's footwells, with raised edges that catch mud, water and dirt from your boots. That makes a difference after a trail ride, when you want to get the mess out of the truck without spending ages cleaning the carpet.

There's one model we'd check before ordering anything: the Canyon AT4X AEV Edition. GMC includes AEV floor liners with this version ([6]). Have a look at the ones already in your truck. If they're still doing their job, there's probably no reason to replace them.

What Makes a Good Floor Liner for Off-Road Driving?

A muddy pair of boots can leave quite a mess inside a Chevy Colorado ZR2 or GMC Canyon AT4. Dirt and water tend to collect along the edges of the footwells, where ordinary flat mats may leave the carpet exposed. 3W floor liners are molded to follow the floor, with raised sides that help keep that mess contained ([3]).

3W uses Thorex™ TPE, a flexible, rubber-like material that can handle temperatures from -4°F to 167°F ([3]). These Colorado and Canyon liners also carry Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, with at least 50% recycled material according to our product specifications ([1]).

Cleaning them is fairly simple. After a day on the trails, you can remove the liners, rinse away the mud with a garden hose, and let them dry before putting them back in the truck. The molded edges and grooves help keep dirt in one place instead of letting it spread across the carpet ([1])([3]).

When choosing floor liners for off-road driving, there are a few things worth checking:

  • Look for mats made for your truck's model year and cab style.
  • Raised sides help prevent water and mud from reaching the carpet.
  • Choose liners you can remove and rinse without much effort.
  • Make sure the set protects the second row, where passengers can bring in dirt too.
  • Check that the material's operating temperature range suits where you drive.

What Do Floor Liners Actually Protect?

Mud doesn't always stay on the floor. After an off-road trip, you might find it on the seats, door sills or even in the truck bed. The 3W Colorado and Canyon floor liners cover the front and rear footwells, keeping dirt and water away from the carpet in those areas ([1])([2]).

Other parts of your truck need separate protection.

Area Floor liner coverage Other protection
Front footwells Yes Front-row liners [1]
Rear footwells Yes Second-row liner [1]
Seats and seat bases No Seat covers
Door sills No Sill protectors
Colorado / Canyon bed (5.1 ft) No Separate bed mat [1]
4Runner cargo area and seatbacks No Cargo liner and seatback protectors

One important installation detail: always remove the original floor mats before fitting new liners. Stacking mats can interfere with the pedals, so check that everything moves freely before driving ([2]).

What to Check Before Buying Off-Road Floor Mats

The right floor mats depend on your truck's model year and cab configuration. Before ordering from our catalog, here are a few details to check.

  • Model year: We have separate floor liner sets for 2015 to 2022 and 2023 to 2026 Colorado and Canyon trucks. The two generations use different floor layouts ([1])([2]).
  • Cab style: Our liners are primarily listed for Crew Cab models. Some older Extended Cab versions appear in the compatibility chart, so get in touch with us if you're unsure about the fit ([1])([2]).
  • Front and rear coverage: Mud doesn't stop at the driver's seat. Our Colorado and Canyon sets cover both rows, including the rear footwells where passengers often leave dirt and wet gear ([1])([2]).
  • Existing liners: The Canyon AT4X AEV Edition comes with AEV floor liners from the factory ([6]). Check their condition before deciding whether to replace them.

When you're ready to install your new liners, remove the existing floor mats first. Avoid stacking mats, and check that the driver's liner stays securely in place without getting in the way of the pedals ([2]).

Frequently Asked Questions

Will 2023 Colorado floor mats fit a 2021 Colorado ZR2?

A 2021 ZR2 belongs to the older Colorado generation, so the 2023 mats won't fit. We have a 2015 - 2022 Crew Cab set for those earlier trucks. That's the one to look for when ordering ([2])([5]).

Can I use Chevy Colorado floor mats in my GMC Canyon AT4?

Take a 2026 Canyon AT4 and a Colorado Crew Cab from the same year. Our liners fit both. Try that with a 2021 Canyon and a 2026 Colorado, though, and the mats won't match. It's the generation that makes the difference, not the badge on the truck ([1])([2]).

Do floor liners protect the bed of a Colorado ZR2?

Our floor liners cover the cabin footwells, not the truck bed. If you have a 2023 to 2026 Colorado or Canyon with a 5.1-foot bed, we also carry a separate bed mat for that area ([1]).

Can TPE floor liners handle winter trail runs?

Our Thorex™ TPE liners have a listed operating range of -4°F to 167°F. We've also reported that the material stays flexible down to -50°F, although that's below its rated operating range ([3]).
